Marjorie is a Virginia Tech graduate in mechanical engineering with over 35 years of experience in commercial and institutional building HVAC design. Her experience includes beginning her career as a designer, continuing her education and becoming a professional engineer and currently the owner of mjDavidson Consulting. She has twenty-five years of experience being in responsible charge of projects from its initial stages, to commissioning and final construction administration. She works on facility upfit and replacement projects with clients such as Siemens Building Technologies, USA, Emcor Group, Hermitage Country Club, EAT Restaurant Partners, CBRE and various design build projects with local contractors and owners. Today Marjorie is the sole entrepreneur of mjDavidson Consulting LLC, which has been in business since 2010, is a LEED AP O+M and a member of IFMA and ASHRAE. Her systems are designed with a concern for overall energy usage and environmental impact, with experience in HVAC and plumbing design work.  She works independently and in collaboration with other independent A/E firms to provide  complete MEP design services to help building owners achieve the best solution for the growth and maintenance of their facilities.

Design Permit Plans

We provide a set of design plans for pricing and construction, which is needed for permit approval by the local jurisdictions. 

Investigate Building Issues

We investigate problems in buildings on a design level and determine the best course of action for resolution.  

Tenant Remodeling

We adjust systems associated with space changes in order to provide design modifications in order to maintain a comfortable and productive space for its occupants. 

Due Diligence Study

We evaluate building systems to determine how functional they will be with a particular owners needs and see if modifications are necessary.  

LEED Certification and Energy Analysis

We assist owners in determining areas where they can achieve credits in their systems design for LEED Certification. We also evaluate system options and payback on investments with a comparison of energy savings, run energy analysis for LEED or to meet permit building envelope requirements.   

Commissioning Services

We provide overview during the building construction process per plans and specifications or evaluate retrofit options in an existing building.  

Design Experience

Red Salt – Greengate Restaurant  – MEP permit plans for new restaurant in Greengate area of Henrico County with EAT Restaurant Partners, also worked on two previous historical projects in city of Richmond which includes Burgers and Brew on the Boulevard and Wong Gonzales on East Grace Street. – mjDavidson Consulting and JDK and Associates. 


Western Tidewater Regional Jail – MEP permit plans for Tidewater Regional Jail for the replacement of four 2000 MBH natural gas  boilers and  three 1500 MBH domestic water heaters and storage tanks. Rework of piping to reconnect to existing piping systems in place, units replaced with high efficiency units. Design Build project with Siemens - mjDavidson Consulting and JDK and Associates. 


Westchester HHHunt Design Center – MEP permit plans for new design center for HHHunt in Westchester Mall in  Chesterfield County. A new tenant upfit of this space is designed in an existing shell space in Westchester Mall area. Design Bid with Tait Saunders Mulvaney – mjDavidson Consulting and JDK and Associates


Salem Civic Center – Replacing ten main air handling units serving the Arena, community room and kitchen. Removing steam boilers and converters and reconfiguration of the heating system for hot water heating. Design build project with Siemens. – mjDavidson Consulting. 


Omni Hotel Charlottesville Virginia – 212 Ridge McIntire Road, adjacent to historic Pedestrian Mall. Providing a study for evaluation of replacing original chillers installed in 1984 that were at end of their useful life, and options for fixing specific HVAC issues the hotel was experiencing areas of hotel. Hotel has 6 stories, with large open atrium and uses a chilled water system with multiple stacked Whalen 2 pipe system for air conditioning of rooms. Conference areas, kitchen and back of house are air conditioned with traditional chilled water rooftop and air handling units. Corridors are conditioned from DX RTU’s. Study was done for hotel in conjunction with Siemens Building maintenance contract, design collaboration from Jerry Jolly PE with contract through mjDavidson Consulting. 


Holiday Inn Express - 8710 Midlothian Turnpike  – Renovation to expand Dining area and rework of multiple rooms for ADA compliance on various levels of the hotel. Systems used in the design are split system DX units. Design Build project with WB Brawley Company – mjDavidson Consulting.


224 East Broad Street – Three story building with basement. Chiller and Boiler replacement, replacement and reconfiguration of air handling unit to coincide with VCU Police Lease of Building. Working in collaboration with Energy Control Company, Mechanical Solutions and contract through Douglas Development – mjDavidson Consulting.


TelePerformance USA - 2805 Parham Road, Henrico VA, large open office space renovation with increase cooling capacities for telemarketing company. Systems used are VAV rooftop DX units, CBRE leasing company, Capstone Contracting Co., design build project through Mechanical Solutions – mjDavidson Consulting.


JEB Stuart ES – Chiller and Boiler replacement and replacing and reconfiguring air handling unit to coincide with ADA upgrades. Working with Jerry Jolly PE through Richmond Public School System. – mjDavidson Consulting


Virginia Museum of Fine Arts – Replacing three main air handling units serving the original museums south galleries. Air handling units have chilled water cooling coils and low pressure steam heating coils. Verification of existing unit layouts and steam capacities for new units – Design build project with Siemens. - ESCO project – mjDavidson Consulting.  


American Tobacco -Shockoe Bottom – Five story residential condominium project retrofit at 20th and Grace Streets in Richmond VA., Multiple small split DX system in independent units, general lobby, fitness office areas and parking deck on first floor. – working with Walter Parks Architect – Ai/Integral.


The Korman Building – Six story residential condominium project retrofit at 27 West Broad Street in Richmond VA., Multiple small split DX system in independent units, general lobby, fitness office areas and parking deck on first floor. – working with KBS – Ai/Integral.


Virginia Museum of Fine Arts – Central Plant Chiller Replacement and Electric Boiler Addition with Plant Optimization of controls to reduce energy cost. Increasing the chilled water plant from 1200 tons to 1500 tons – Design build project with Siemens. - ESCO project – Integral. 


GMU – Fairfax Virginia Campus, Central Plant Chiller and Cooling Tower Replacement – Replacement of older R-12 chillers with newer more efficient R-123 chillers while also increasing capacity of cooling plant. Design build project with Siemens, an ESCO project. – Integral. 


Anthem/Trigon – Corporate Headquarters Renovation, Richmond, VA. Data Center, Central plant and Underfloor air systems, provided layout in main penthouse mechanical rooms, load calculations for underfloor air systems, ongoing evaluation with owners on data center growth and modifications. – Ai Engineering. 


Richmond Public Schools, Richmond, Virginia – Chiller replacement studies for John Marshall High School, George Wythe HS, and Armstrong HS, later providing Ice Storage system for two of these schools. – CEK, Inc. 


UVA Law School Addition and Renovation – Charlottesville, Virginia, HVAC renovation of the original Law School and Addition of the old graduate business school building with new Walk-ways added between the buildings. – CEK, Inc.


Philip Morris USA Operations Center – Bells Road in Richmond Virginia, General office, Quality Assurance Laboratories, and Research Area Renovations and Chiller plant Study. On- going relationship with facilities managers to perform HVAC modifications on as needed bases. – CEK, Inc. 


JMU Warren Campus Center –  Harrisonburg, Virginia, HVAC for new student center building, chilled and hot water systems preformed existing system survey and worked with campus facilities personnel. –CEK, Inc.
